Testimonials - Changing the life of families
Kathy M.

Waupoos has been extremely supportive, even when I wasn't the kind
of person most people wanted to be around. The community was there
when I needed it and I was never judged. I felt like I belonged.
I was given an opportunity to learn new tasks and to become an employable
person. Waupoos helped me to see there could be a future when I
didn't believe there was one.
When I lost my court battle for Shawn and Ashley, I went to Waupoos.
Helene and Wendy were there for me. It was a very painful time for
me and I left there feeling better. I remember when Fred gave me
a free weekend at the farm for my birthday the first year I went
to the island. They made a celebration of my birthday - for years
it had been just one more day.
I have always felt respected, cared for and loved at Waupoos. Something
that was missing for a long time. This love has helped me grow as
a person and establish lasting relationships.
Waupoos provided me with the opportunity for change in my life.
When I felt worthless, useless, and lost, Waupoos helped me to see
that there still was some good in me and helped me to develop that
little bit of good into something much bigger.
Fifteen years ago I could not have possibly imagined that one day,
my children would have grown up with me and been normal kids. I
could not have imagined that I would own my own house or hold a
good job. I could not have imagined that I would still be alive,
because I wanted to die. Waupoos gave me life.
