We have received funding from HRSDC for the last seven years allowing us to hire summer staff.


Summer Jobs and Volunteer Opportunities for Students 

Application Deadline for Positions: April 4, 2014


Position 1: Program Supervisor

Implement and oversee recreational activities for children and their families at Waupoos Farm. Provide welcoming environment, orientation and liaising with visiting families: plan, coordinate and supervise summer program; assist cottager and host families and children. Clean and maintain cottage and lodge facilities. $10.25/hour to $12.25/hour based on experience. Work week: Monday to Friday.

Position 2: Counselor and Volunteer Coordinator

Provide a welcoming environment and orientation. Deal directly with visiting families on activities such as arts, crafts, games, reading and sport activities. Coordinate and run volunteer program, supervise younger volunteers; track and log volunteer hours and activities. Clean and maintain cottage and lodge facilities. $10.25/hour to $12.25/hour based on experience. Work week: Monday to Friday.

Position 3: Head Lifeguard

Provide surveillance during pool operation hours to prevent accidents. Administer policies, procedures and rules to ensure the proper conduct of pool users. Provide teaching program to youth. Clean and maintain pool on a daily basis. $12.25/hour to $14.25/hour based on experience. Work week: Tuesday to Saturday

Position 4: Maintenance and Animal Care

Assist in the daily care of poultry yard and other petting zoo type animals. Help with the building and repairs of stalls, fences, painting and other relevant duties as they arise. Provide lawn maintenance, oversee community garden and provide trail management for 200 acre wooded area. Clean and maintain cottage and lodge facilities. $10.25/hour to $12.25/hour based on experience. Work week: Monday to Friday.

Additional Information for all Positions:

  •   All applicants must be a minimum of 15 years to apply

  •   Staff will be responsible for leading and participating in daily chapel time

  •   Police check is required

  •   Bilingualism, current CPR and First Aid are considered assets.

  •   Training for all positions will take place on Saturday, June 7th at our Summer Kick-Off Event

  •   30 hours per week for 8 weeks, commencing on Monday, June 30th and end August 22nd or 23rd, 2014.

  •   Students must be returning to full time studies in September 2014 (funding requirement)

  •   Waupoos is not located on any OCTranspo bus routes; must have own transportation

Summer Volunteer Opportunities

Assist with programming, cottage clean-up, laundry, animal care, gardening, weeding, painting, crafts, outdoor games etc. Mondays to Saturdays available. Summer volunteers are encouraged to participate one day per week, for 6 to 8 weeks. Interview and police check required. Must be a minimum of 14 years to apply as a volunteer.
